  Biography

Nate Seamons is the Director of Bands at American Fork High School in American Fork, UT. He is a former band director for Hurst Junior High School (TX), Lehi High School (UT) and Gunnison Valley High School (UT). Most recently, the American Fork Band captured the 5A Utah State Championship. He also taught at LD Bell High School (Hurst, TX), helping them to a Grand National Finals finish in Indianapolis, IN in 2013, and a Bronze medal at the 5A Texas State UIL Marching Band Championships in 2012. In 2011, Mr. Seamons was awarded "Teacher/Advisor of the Year" at Lehi High School.

He holds a Masters in Music (Conducting) from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Bachelor of Brass Performance (Trombone) from Brigham Young University. He also holds and associates degree from Snow College. He has taught at the University level conducting the UNLV Wind Orchestra, and the Snow College Symphonic Band. He was appointed the Assistant Director of the Wasatch Winds (UT) in 2010, and the Associate Conductor for the Irving Symphonic Band (TX) in 2012. Mr. Seamons has studied conducting with Tom Leslie, Takoyoshi Suzuki, Scott Hagen, and David Blackinton.

Mr. Seamons is a Veteran and holds the rank of Major in the Army Reserves, and has deployed to the Middle East twice. He and his wife Mary Jane live in Highland, UT with their 4 children, Caroline, Anna, Charlie, and Samuel.

Boneyard Beginnings: Get your trombones started right!

This session will explore methods to get the beginner trombone section in your band started off on the right foot. The session will be interactive and will feature hands-on teaching and learning the trombone. Come and volunteer to play trombone like a beginner and get started off right! Trombones will be provided. This session will explore how to pick the right person to play the trombone, how to approach air, proper tonguing, great tone production, and slide technique-All from day one!


Everything is Bigger in Beginner Band: How to recruit great numbers with great instrumentation

This clinic goes over a routine to recruit for beginner band. As the title suggests, it is designed to assist directors get great numbers with proper instrumentation. It is a year long system that if followed, can improve the beginner band programs at your school or cluster!
