Elizabeth Sokolowski is the Director of Music Activities and Director of Bands at Villanova University. Her responsibilities include oversight of 700 students involved in nearly 30 ensembles including instrumental and vocal music ensembles, dance troupes, and student theater and musical theater. As Director of the Villanova University Bands, her responsibilities include marching band, pep band, concert band, and small ensembles. The Villanova University Bands perform at over 70 events every year, both on campus and around the country.
A graduate of Temple University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree, she earned a Masters degree at St. Joseph’s University from the Educational Leadership and Educational Administrative and Supervisory Program. Mrs. Sokolowski holds a Pennsylvania Instructional II Teaching Certificate and a Pennsylvania Administrative and Supervisory Certificate.
She is a member of the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA), and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). In addition to her role at Villanova University, Mrs. Sokolowski is an educational clinician for Conn-Selmer Inc. She provides professional growth opportunities and leadership training on Current Trends in Music Education, Leadership, Music Technology Integration, Curriculum Design and Development, and 21st Century Learning and Creativity in Music Education. Her first book entitled Making Musical Meaning: Unlocking the Value of Music Education in the Age of Innovation (GIA Publications, Chicago) is now available.
