Conn-Selmer and ArkivMusic Partner with Canadian Brass
Elkhart, IN - Conn-Selmer, Inc. and ArkivMusic, subsidiaries of Steinway Musical Instruments, Inc., announced today that they have entered into a partnership with the legendary brass quintet, Canadian Brass. The partnership will include collaboration on new recordings of the group's repertoire of brass standards and original arrangements as well as educational outreach worldwide.
"We are thrilled to be working with such a talented group," said Mike Kamphuis, Conn-Selmer's Sr. Director of Marketing. "With our historic branded Bach and C.G. Conn instruments and continued outreach to music educators, we saw this partnership as the perfect fit. We look forward to working with Canadian Brass in product development and music educational efforts in North America and abroad."
Canadian Brass has performed in virtually every major concert hall in the world while always keeping the next generation of players well in sight. With more than 200 works in print, a recent association with the youth in El Sistema and a plethora of educational initiatives over the years, Canadian Brass has shaped the recent and emerging history of brass performance. Chuck Daellenbach of Canadian Brass noted, "The significance of this collaboration between Conn-Selmer and Canadian Brass cannot be overstated. We are joining a North American company that embodies the perfect blend of excellence of design, integrity of construction and unparalleled social consciousness. We feel these are qualities we both honor and share."
Through workshops, educator in-service programs and educational materials, Conn-Selmer's Education Division provides support to educational professionals, school systems, and students. Vice President of Education, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, said, "We are all honored to have the opportunity to work alongside the internationally acclaimed Canadian Brass and share their immeasurable talents with every aspect of the music education community. They represent the pinnacle of musical artistry, and - even more - they are remarkable educators; the ultimate combination modeling the value of music learning and music making."
As part of the partnership Canadian Brass will collaborate with ArkivMusic on new recordings for the Canadian Brass - owned Opening Day label in addition to promoting the extensive existing Canadian Brass discography of over 90 albums." ArkivMusic President Eric Feidner commented, "Some of the best-selling titles ever on ArkivMusic have been collaborations with Canadian Brass and we are excited to be working in partnership with them again." With an extensive worldwide touring schedule, Canadian Brass is an important pioneer in bringing brass music to mass audiences everywhere. They have sold well over 2 million albums worldwide and continue to score Billboard chart positions - most recently with their rousing recording of patriotic songs and marches, Stars & Stripes: Canadian Brass Salute America, which spent 8 weeks in the Top 25 on the Billboard Classical Chart during the summer of 2010, peaking at #2. They can be heard on their own label, Opening Day Entertainment Group, Canada's favorite indie label.
